Description

Taksirat Festival was founded in 1998 by a group of young enthusiasts carried by the DIY ideology. It started as a small festival (300–400 attendees) promoting only popular bands from the former Yugoslavia region, but now, it has become a highly professional event that promotes world-famous artists and gathers more than 15,000 people annually. Each year the number of music lovers increases, and it always exceeds the capacity of the hall where this festival happens.

The festival lasts for a whole week, usually in late November/early December. This festival is the biggest in Macedonia, and it is the only winter music festival in South Eastern Europe. It is located in different cultural locations in Skopje. Besides the main music programme the festival is enriched with off programs like art performances, art films, theatre plays, promotion of new music releases, introducing young and unestablished artists to the audience as well as social campaigns that promote positive values to the youth population etc.

This is the only festival in Macedonia that has won the Green’N’Clean Award (2011) at the European Festival Awards, presented by the European Festival Association YOUROPE, and it has been nominated in the categories Best Small Festival and Best Indoor Festival for several years.
