Description:
Laulurinne is the most excellent venue for a rock festival in Finland. There are three camping areas and the adjoining beach is also included to the festival site. Only 10 min walk to the center of the town and 15 min drive from Joensuu airport. Laulurinne is situated by lake Pyhäselkä and magnificent scenery surrounds the venue. Ilosaarirock is run by the non-profit organisation called Joensuun Popmuusikot ry. There are 1.500 voluntary people working for the festival every year. Part of the festival profit is given away to local bands as stipends annually. The first Ilosaarirock took place in 1971 and it makes Ilosaarirock one of the longest running un-interrupted annual open air rock festival in Europe. The festival has been sold out in advance since 1997. Each year, more than 90 bands play at the festival during 3 days from Friday to Sunday.
