Pohoda – Adj. & N. (Slavic) fun, easy going, pleasant, peace, no problem, relax, enjoyment, comfort ... and damn good festival. Pohoda Festival has evolved from a small local event (8 bands in 1997) to one of the biggest music and art festivals organised in Slovakia. In 2014 there were 387 performances in total, including 182 concerts across 20 stages. Amongst the artists at the festival, 29 countries were represented.
The festival is known for its magic atmosphere and broad range of music and arts. The variety of art forms (besides music also literature, theatre, photography, film, visual arts, dance, workshops etc.) has changed the original music festival to an exceptional event and a meeting point for mostly young non-commercial art. Non-profit organizations play a significant part at the festival and discussions on various topics are held as well. The goal of the festival is to create an atmosphere of comfort, happiness, communication and tolerance, everything while retaining maximum emphasis on the quality of the technical areas and services. Festival welcomes 30 000 visitors including more than 1000 registered children, who can enjoy programme on two stages in their Kids Park.
City of Trencin is well prepared for organizing this kind of events. Trencin is famous for many cultural and historic monuments (castle of Trencin) and wide range of high-quality services. City itself belongs to the most beautiful cities in Slovakia. Accessibility by bus and car (highway), by train or even by plane is the most important fact for visitors. City is located close to the Czech Republic as well as Poland, Hungary and Austria – just 190 km from Vienna. In 2004 the festival took place at the airport of Trencin for the first time. The airport is conveniently located within the city borders. It is situated in picturesque valley of the river Vah, surrounded by mountains of Povazsky Inovec, Biele Karpaty and Strazovske vrchy.
The airport is the ideal combination of grass and rubbed concrete. All spaces where bigger numbers of visitors are expected are located on the concrete or in tents with flooring so there will not be any mud or dust. The airport can easily facilitate festival’s infrastructure (stages, food and drink zone, and hygienic zone) as well as the compound for visitors (parking, camping side). Proximity of the city centre which is strengthening with shuttle service is another advantage of this place. This generous space emphasizes traditional festival values (tolerance and communication) and increases the feeling of freedom and liberty.
